Over the past two weeks in Room 2 we have been super busy learning!

We were so lucky to have the amazing Cust Firefighters come into school and teach us how to keep ourselves and our families safe at home and school. We learned about how to create a fire escape plan and what to do in case of a fire. We even had a fun hands-on activity where we looked at different ways to stay safe and avoid fire hazards.

We also had a blast with snow play! When the snow arrived, we took full advantage of it - lots of snowmen were built!  It was great to see everyone’s creativity in action as we enjoyed the winter weather.

Wow the weeks are flying by - it was fabulous to see all the students out enjoying the dump of snow we got on Sunday - the snowmen were impressive!

We are working super hard in Room 3 at the moment. As well as crafting and publishing some well structured Information Reports, we are also writing speeches around the focus "Piko's TIPS in action". This week your child will come home with their speech on cue cards ready to practise. It would be great if you could please practise the delivery of this speech at home, and ensure the cards make it to school every day too :) More details will follow shortly regarding the actual speech competition day and times. 

We are developing our knowledge of place value this week and being able to independently compose and decompose larger numbers - as well as some subtraction algorithms for the Tigers (see photos below).
