Congratulations to the children who presented at the Public Speaking Competition last Wednesday evening. It was an entertaining evening and there was such a high standard of public speaking on display. Thank you to Anna Campbell for judging the competition.

Last Thursday a group of Year 5 and Year 6 students went to the Dunedin Public Library Scrabble competition.

A reminder that the wearing of school sunhats is compulsory next term.

There are always people from our community helping in different ways.

Unfortunately, we were not notified of the traffic diversion along Gladstone Road South last week. We have put procedures in place so that we will be notified if a similar situation arises. We appreciated the patience and understanding shown by parents.

East Taieri School has fun learning all about the new Digital Technologies Curriculum.

An initiative from a group of passionate girls turns out to be a great success.

Just in time for the holidays!

East Taieri Church is once again delivering a low-cost holiday programme in Mosgiel for children in the upcoming October school holidays.

These children were identified by Student Leaders as demonstrating the School Values of Kindness, Respect, Resilience, Perseverance and Personal Best.

The Student Council is supporting Cure Kids Red Nose Day this Friday by holding a colouring competition and 'Guess the number of jaffas in the jar' this week. Cure Kids badges and red noses will also be on sale.

As part of our PE programme, all students had golfing sessions with Melanie Harper, well known Dunedin professional golf instructor. It is obvious that we have some 'budding' young golfers at East Taieri.

The Gas Works and the Steampunks are having a Family Fun Day on the 14th October at the Gasworks from 11am to 3pm.
