Gazette: a New Publication Style to Unlock!

What's in a name?

According to Wikipedia:

A gazette is an official journal, a newspaper of record, or simply a newspaper. In English- and French-speaking countries, newspaper publishers have applied the name Gazette since the 17th century; today, numerous weekly and daily newspapers bear the name The Gazette.

So, naturally the Gazette publication style we're now offering takes cues from the print world, but don't let its newspaper-like layout fool you — it's just as slick and useful for your weekly publications as the Newsletter or Magazine and boasts extra features such as Google Calendar integration.

Neato Features 

Google Calendar Integration — this is one feature many of you have been asking for in a publication. Thanks to the Gazette's complete from-scratch rebuild, it's now possible. Simply add your public Google Calendar to your Hail settings and your upcoming events will be automatically pulled out and displayed on the Gazette's cover page. For those of you who already have your organisation's calendar on your Hail Website, the Gazette will display it automatically.

Direct links to search and tag filters — in addition to linking readers to the Gazette's cover page or a specific article, you can also link to a specific section of content either by tag or a search term. For example: check out all the Case Studies in this Gazette.

Reading Progress indicator — On all screens, except for mobile phones, you'll notice an index of articles to the right. This serves a couple of clever functions:

• It updates as you read through the articles to give the reader a sense of place in the article and the publication as a whole. This also has the effect of subtly rewarding your community for their attention and encourages them to read from cover to cover .
• It also serves as a way for those very busy people to scan the contents and browse the articles they're most interested in without having to jump back and forth to the index on the cover page.

And of course, the Gazette includes all the other clever features you expect from Hail publications:

Some little tweaks 

Lastly, we'd like to let you know of some other changes just released from Hail Labs...

The Yearbook style is now named: Folio. We did this because as some of you have discovered it works beautifully for many more uses than just yearbooks 

And we've changed how the publication style switcher works to give it a preview function. This means you can seamlessly try out your publications in all styles — even if they're not available on your plan!
