Heaton attended the 40hr Famine awards evening on 31 August. It was a great evening with many awards being handed out and stories being told. We heard of amazing fundraising ideas, how the money raised is being spent in Syria and we were inspired to go make a change in the world. Heaton received an Excellence award for outstanding effort in the 2017 40hr Famine. Heaton raised an amazing $6847 with over 150 students participating. Way to go Heaton!

When we arrived at school you could feel the excitement and nerves in the air. As we lined up to get our jacket tags, the hall started to fill with bright colours of everyone's ski equipment. We soon got on the busses, and after about an hour, we could see the beautiful view of Mt Hutt.

It was with great excitement that the Ski Camp participants gathered in the carpark at school on the 7th of September. Porters was open, there was fresh snow, all 24 students were on time and loaded into 6 4x4 cars with all their gear (lots and lots of gear). By 7:30 we were off - heading in the right direction for 2 days of awesome skiing and training.

Dear Supporters, Thank you for making our quiz night a raging success. We were able to raise over $6100, which will help fund a new van. We hope to have more news on this in the next newsletter! It was wonderful to have so many people enjoy an entertaining evening, and looking dapper, fabulous, and sensational in creative costumes.

The PTA are offering a community evening in October. Dr Lucy Hone, from the NZ Institute of Wellbeing and Resilience, has combined her academic research in resilience with her experiences after losing her daughter to offer rich, practical, and real ideas on coping with life challenges.

The PTA's main focus for 2017 is to continue to raise funds towards the purchase of an additional minivan. The aim is to purchase a later model, 12 seater, to enable a greater range of teams and groups to travel.
