On Friday 13th of September two Year 8 teams represented Hornby High School at the Uru Manuka Ki O Rahi competition hosted by Gilberthorpe School.

Term 3 is coming to an end, but what a term it has been!

Last week the Year 13 musicians performed in their final performance showcase. This was the final part of their Level 3 Solo Performance standard. This term they decided to present their work as a cabaret. With an intimate audience of whānau and staff it was a really wonderful evening celebrating the talents and the hard work of our senior musicians.

The international food fair was a great success and it was lovely being part of the community evening, selling Nachos along with all the other wonderful dishes that were available on the night.

On Wednesday the 28th of August we had four teams - 16 Hornby High School students competing in the annual Cantamath competition where they competed against the top mathematicians Canterbury has to offer.

We are in the home stretch of the near complete rebuild of our kura. The ‘kahui’ (or learning hubs) that will give us our more general learning spaces are due to be handed over to the school on Friday 13 September.

We are aware that a number of students are arriving at school each day without a Chromebook.

The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays. The clinics will offer treatment and relief of pain sessions by appointment only.

The App can be used to access the parent portal, check the daily notices, check attendance and is the quickest and easiest way to notify us of an absence.
