Music Department excels over the weekend

It's been a massive week for the staff and students in the Music Department. With Rockquest (see separate article), the Big Sing and a Chamber Music competition, the pressure has been on everyone.

King's Bands all make it through to Otago Regional Rockquest Final

The Otago heats of Rockquest were held at Kavanagh College on Friday 9th June. The crowd was entertained by around 30 performances from bands, duos or solo acts from schools in the Otago region, each performing one ‘original’ song. There was something for everyone with a wide variety of genres covered.

Olly represented Otago Under 19 at the National Championships in Auckland over the weekend. Olly was in the top 10 players for points per game and his team finished 11th overall.

King's Handball Team place 4th

Last weekend, KHS 1st Handball Team competed in the South Island Open Handball Competition. This was the first time a King's team has ever entered and they came a respectable 4th. Long may their success continue.

Chopping wood

Help our boys get to Africa!

In 2018, four (currently Year 11 and 12) students and one adult from King’s High school will embark on an exciting expedition to the Great Rift Valley in Africa. The Operation Wallacea Expedition will take students through Tanzania and Malawi to work with locals and a team of scientists to map the wildlife in and around Lake Malawi.

Musical tickets on sale!

Make sure you go online using the link below and book your tickets for this year's school musical; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The show opens on Wednesday with the final performance a matinee on Sunday. There is no show on Saturday.
