Welcome back to everyone after the recent school holidays. I hope you all had a great break from the usual weekday routines and had some time to relax with your children. I was able to get away and spend some time in Japan, such an amazing place to visit, with such respectful and polite people.

As you will know, Milford School is a candidate school for the IBPYP. We have been learning about this framework which sits well with our New Zealand Curriculum, and we would like to give parents information as well.

One of our teachers, Nicole Brown, who is passionate about science and technology, has been nominated in the Genesis School-gen Super Teacher competition and is now in the running to win one of two trips to the 2020 Space Exploration Educators Conference in Houston, Texas early next year.

Our first week back to Garden To Table after the school holidays has been a huge success!! The garden is flourishing and we have been able to harvest huge quantities of vegetables to use in the kitchen. See the pictures below to see for yourself.

Due to the success of our previous Jester's Pie Day, the Graduation Social Committee is holding another pie day to help fundraise for the year 6 Graduation social.

The Milford School Chess Club travelled to Palmerston North on the first weekend of the school holidays to compete in the New Zealand Primary finals. There were about 28 other primary schools who entered.

The talented students were busy in late Term 3 creating artworks for the Kids Art Works calendars! These are fantastic for Christmas presents, for family and for work!

Welcome back to term 4, from the PTA. As this is always a very busy term with lots of exciting things happening in and around the school, we thought we would give you an update of what the PTA have been up to and what they have planned for this term.

This year was the first year UNSW Assessments went completely digital. All competitions were sat on line. This posed some issues throughout the competition with access to tests, and many technical issues etc. Children now have to have a sound knowledge computer literacy and skills as well as curriculum knowledge in order to complete each of the competitions.

Information will be sent home this Friday with all children taking part in the Kids for Kids concert. Children will need to pay the bus fare ($5.00) asap.

Now the season is complete, could all netball uniforms, balls, player of the day trophies , bibs, drink carriers and practise nets and balls please be sent to school asap. Many thanks to all of those teams who have already sent them in. It is vital we get all equipment back asap so that we can start to look at what is needed into 2020. There are a large number of uniforms still needing to be returned. Many thanks.

The DJ is booked, the planning is underway, the annual Milford School Disco is fast approaching, so it is time to dust off those party clothes and prepare to boogie on down with your friends!

Catalogues were sent home this week, BUT if you didn’t get one don’t despair please check with your classroom teacher or the office to get your copy.

Milford School Pool keys are now available from the school office for the summer 2019/2020 season. (14 October 2019 to 28 April 2020. The cost of the key is $180.00 which includes the $30.00 bond (refundable when the key is returned).

Just a friendly reminder to download our new school app. This will allow you to keep in the loop with all news and information from school, and the preferred way of reporting an absence. The old app is no longer in use and has been disabled as the new app is a free version.

We collect them in Room 19, and Mrs von Collas sends them to Australia, where they get recycled and turned into other products. You can help us win a Community Garden simply by bringing your used oral hygiene products to Room 19 and also by voting for Milford School in the Community Garden Challenge. Tell your families, tell your neighbours. Spread the word!
