What Newlands Intermediate Offers
Our students are young adolescents - they are developing intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, culturally, and ethically. Our kura, our staff and our pedagogy continually reflect and adapt to the unique needs of our rangatahi.
Our teachers are advocates for this age group, know and understand the idiosyncrasies and passions of young adolescent learners, understand the emotional, cultural life of their students. We have a passion for teaching this age group and know the value of strong engaging culturally grounded relationships.
Our place of learning is flexible, diverse, democratic, positive, safe and engaging.
Our young people have a voice, and our Māori rangatahi see themselves reflected in our curriculum. Our students connect with the world and develop a sense of community during their time with us.
Our teaching and learning, the pedagogy that guides us, is informed, innovative, relevant, global, challenging, pastoral, culturally centred. We aim to have a curriculum of awe and wonder for all.
