At the first full school assembly held on Monday morning, Mr Hall announced the Students of the Term from Term 3.

Over the school holidays, I was given the fantastic opportunity to attend BLAKE Inspire – a forum for young leaders in the environmental and sustainability fields.

Otago Boys’ High School were recognised for Excellence in Environmental Care and Sustainability by the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Dunedin branch.

Congratulations to Peter Crosson, another singer from OBHS Friday Voice lessons to audition successfully for Performance Voice at Otago University. This has been the next step for many of our boys in their journey to become Classical/Opera singers. Very well-deserved, Peter!

Our Artist of the Week is Year 13 student William Clark.

A squad of eight boys travelled with parents to Christchurch on September 25th for a practice and orientation afternoon at McLeans Island near Christchurch.

It is my pleasure to announce the achievements of four boys in the National Division 2 tournament for Water Polo which took place during the Term 3 holidays.

As a pastoral team, we have been looking at innovative ways to try and improve on our pastoral support mechanisms for your son's potential wellbeing while they are studying at OBHS. That they can just get on with what is really matters, which is being happy while learning, while making new friends and while being an active participant in a multitude of both sporting and culture activities that are offered by our school.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Noah Oseki, Nick Wright, Richard Wang and Aaron Nelson competed in an online international chess tournament, which included players from Mexico, Chile, UAE, South Africa and Ecuador.

Year 10 student Jake Owen represented Otago in the Scholastics Surfing Championships held in Kaikoura last week.

Daylight savings made the 6am start challenging but that was nothing on the conditions that greeted us in Invercargill, for the South Island Secondary Schools' Duathlon Championships.

A number of our rowers competed in the R2K regatta in the first weekend of the school holidays at Lake Ruataniwha. This regatta was combined with the Inter Provincial Regatta and we achieved some great results.

At the end of last term, 3 OBHS students, Brody Kearney, Josh Dickinson and Jayden Cron trialled and were selected to represent Dunedin in the U15 Thunder (Ice Hockey) team.
