Visit this articleJim Kelly (1938-42) Our school community is saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Jim Kelly. Mr. Kelly attended PNBHS from 1938 – 1942 and in recent years has been a regular attendee at our annual Anzac service where he has placed a wreath on the Gallipoli Oak on behalf of our Old Boys. After these services, Mr. Kelly was always keen to engage with our young men and to find out about what was happening at school. His presence and contribution will be missed. Our thoughts are with Mr. Kelly’s family at this time. Jim reconnected with the school in 2007 when driving past a rugby ground in Papakura, he stopped when he saw the jerseys of his old school. He introduced himself to a supporter which started a relationship with the Colts rugby team. Jim and his wife, Pat even travelled around the country to watch them, on the Wednesday night of Colts tournament a BBQ was traditionally held, each year Jim bought ice cream for the boys and red wine for the staff. Jim and Pat had retired to Papakura after a successful teaching career including being the Principal of a number of schools, he also dabbled in the kiwifruit industry for a time.
