On Friday 10 May a group of Year 9 and 10 students were lucky enough to attend a ‘Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival’ session featuring two remarkable authors, John Boyne and Marcus Zusak. We were entertained for two hours, as they shared with us their stories and their experiences.

Teacher Only Day this term is 31 May. Our focus for this day is on the new digital curriculum and how this can be implemented in all subjects. Staff will be joined by digital specialists in education and we will be having sessions on sharing ideas in the classroom.

Recently Year 12 students traveled to Gore to take part in the GRIP leadership course 2019.

The Interact group has been very busy so far this year raising money for many good causes.

On Friday the 10th of May a group of 35 Queen's girls went to listen to Kingslee McLean Daley, better known as Akala, speak.

Money Hub, a consumer finance website, has published a guide to hundreds of scholarships available for any student planning to start University in 2020.

On Friday 10th May, the Incubator group went to Wakari Hospital where we learnt about careers as Paramedics, Rehabilitative Physiotherapists, and as Oral Health Technicians. The girls loved getting to use some of the rehabilitation equipment, and polishing teeth. Thanks again to Vicie Hodge at the SDHB for organising the trip.

Last term our Pasifika Mentor Ana Mapusua brought in the passionate ex-Silver Fern Jodi Brown to speak with our senior Pasifika students.

Year 12 History Student Abby Cooper was invited for the second year to Tainui Primary School’s ANZAC assembly.

The annual Year 13 Geography and Tourism trip to Queenstown happened Wednesday to Friday of week 2 Term 2.

Year 10 French students made crêpes and cooked croissants for lunch last week.
