What a very busy term we are concluding. Thanks to our school community for the amazing support you have continued to show for our school in all that we do.

We know that our communication has been enhanced, as we have had numerous emails and conversations saying so. We responded quickly to any of the glitches we were informed about to ensure meaningful and accurate communication remained a priority. The streamlined use of HERO app as our main form of communication has seen greater engagement from our school community, and we will continue to enhance the use of the app as we bring on additional features. I love the way there are people responding to the messages with the use of the emojis! 👍

Our PB4L celebration days - days that are chosen by the children for the children - have proved very popular and have seen a closer attention paid to our school values by our children. However, as with anything new, there were some learnings gained for the PB4L team to work through. To this end, ALL PB4L dates for the rest of the year, are already included on the school calendar, and whole school communication and team communication about the activity chosen will be shared 1 week prior (as that is when the counting of the tokens to determine the "winning" activity is done). This Friday will be the last celebration activity for Term 1. Look out for details on HERO.

At our recent Board meeting, we resolved to keep the school gates locked until after the holiday period when we will revisit this. Obviously, we would love for our school community to have access to our school grounds after hours, however the large amount of vandalism and ongoing disruptive and threatening behaviours from others in our wider community led to the decision having to be made. 

On a positive note, I really do want to reiterate and thank you for the support you give to our school. I have received numerous emails from whānau sharing good things about our school, and I know that a number of our staff have also received these comments. We know that there are many changes ahead through educational policy changes from the Coalition Government, but please know that we will continue to provide the high quality teaching and learning to our community, using best practice guidelines and our knowledge of the children to inform and guide our planning and teaching.

All the best for a great holiday break, and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday April 29 as we start Term 2.
