Week 10 Term 3 Newsletter 2024

Kia ora tatou, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Kia orana, Bula vinaka, Namaste, Nǐ hǎo, Salve, Bonjour, Kamusta, de Groeten, Greetings.

Last week was another busy one after the previous week saw so much going on for our ākonga | learners. Last week, we had our senior athletic qualifier events take place. We also had our Senior Kapahaka rōpu take part in the Ruataniwha Festival. They were absolutely amazing and received rave reviews. Congratulations to these amazing young people. Thanks so much to our amazing teaching staff and whānau for their teaching and guidance in this awesome kaupapa.

This week we have another busy time with a number of other events happening in and off site. Today, the Rūrū team is visiting Willowbank, the Tui team have a skate afternoon, and the Kōtare team have some of their tamariki involved in Cricket coaching. Our Kākāriki 1 and 2 landed safely in Wellington for the start of their camp, with Kākāriki 3 & 4 starting their camp on Wednesday with their early meet at the airport.

Next term, we have our third cohort of teachers attending structured literacy professional learning as provided by the Government. This will mean that all our Year 1-3 teachers will have had the prescribed professional learning before the end of 2024. Next Year, the Government will be providing all Year 4-6 teachers with their professional learning in structured literacy. Already, most of our staff have had experience in visiting other schools or learning about structured literacy over the last 2 years, however this very "structured" and consistent PD is important to maintain across the school.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and I wish you happy times with your family over this next holiday break.

Keep smiling

Shane
