Term 3 is now well underway and so is work on the school production Seussical the Musical. There is a lot of excitement around the school and it is going to be an amazing show. See you all there.

In the middle of the year the board gets curriculum progress reports. The subject leads put a lot of work into summarising how the syndicates are going on benchmark national tests and internal teacher judgements and against goals they set at the start of the year. Our across school progress in maths, reading and writing are in line with previous years and consistently with 90%+ in the at or above expected level across reading, writing and maths. There are programmes in place to keep doing the best we can for all ākonga. Our teachers and leaders continue to deliver great results.

We will shortly share a brief survey asking for more feedback on our e-learning programme. Having made our way through the Covid period, now is a good time to check in and get you feedback on how our classroom e-learning is working for your children. We appreciate your feedback. We will update our BYOD programme too - more announcements shortly..

By the end of the next holiday break there are plans for an overhaul of the sandpit, some cladding maintenance and an upgrade to the hall sound system.

Seatoun School has recently attained status as a Signatory to the Code for International Students which enables us to host international students. International students are a good way for the school to raise external money and diversify income. You will be aware that all schools in the south and east of Wellington have declining rolls mostly due to the cost of living and housing. In order to continue to provide the programmes the school runs there are optimal roll numbers. This year our roll has risen which is great. Having this certification gives us another tool should we need to supplement our income. We are planning for a small number of students if the situation arises.

Keep warm and see you at the show.
