New Zealand Junior Rugby Festival in Taupō

Toby Brook (Year 8) was a member of a team representing the Marist St Pats (MSP) rugby club which competed at the three-day New Zealand Junior Rugby Festival in Taupō from 16 to 18 September. It is a very tough competition, and the first time the team had played outside the Wellington region, but they became the most successful team from MSP ever to compete in that tournament. Toby scored tries in all six games they played and was awarded one of 15 MVP awards that were determined by the opposition players, coaches and referees, ranking 5th out of more than 200 participants in his grade. This was an incredible achievement, particularly considering he had not been able to train or play for four weeks prior to the tournament due to a fracture in his hand.
