Seatoun Nets Miniball team

Winning... first place in league! What an achievement!
by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi Seatoun School

At the beginning of the season we were struggling to win a game, we had a play off at the end of last term for the bottom placing in our league.
This did not get the team down, it only fuelled their determination to strive to do better. They went from playing for themselves, to playing as a strong unit, working together to achieve a basket and to include all players on court. Slowly, their game's started to turn around and gain more momentum. Success and support for each other started to be shared and celebrated among team mates. This term, it all turned around and we started winning almost every game, ending with a final win for the first place in our league!I am so proud of these kids who have given 150%, been open to learning and including each other and supporting and helping weaker players grow, helping the whole team to shine so that by the end of the season they were a true team in every sense of the word. Here are a few comments from some team members:Hugo: "I liked that we went from the bottom of our league to the top because we learnt to work as a team"Charlie: " it was my first time playing basketball and our team won. I learn’t lots of tips and tricks from my team mates"Samson: "at the end we we were much better at passing as a team & it was better to do lay ups to get points than just shoot”Alby: " I loved having fun with my team at training and in the games"
