Settled classes and happy children...
Tsunami Drill  by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi Seatoun School

The school continues to hum along with settled classes and happy children making the most of their opportunities.

We have received considerable positive feedback regarding the Our Kids Online parent information session. We are in the final stages of planning to offer a ‘for parents, by parents’ help session one evening this term where parents share how they are managing devices within the home and in particular, internet filtering and software blocks/limits.

FoSS Update

Please take the time to consider how you can assist FoSS and provide opportunities for your children. More information is below.

Getting to School On Time

Thank you for the effort you make to get your child to school on time. Children should be ready to start the day at 8.45. Arriving at or after 8.45 puts your child on the back foot for the day of learning.

Earthquake and Tsunami Drill

We had a successful drill today. Some comments:

  • We had a number of students without a raincoat at school. A cotton sweatshirt is not sufficient. Please make sure your child brings a suitable jacket to school every day.
  • A number of younger students were not confidently walking on the uneven surface up to our evacuation point. Please take the time at the end of school one day, or at the weekend, to walk up to the ridge line.
  • We sent a text message out to all families today informing you of our successful drill. If you did not receive this please email admin@seatoun.school.nz and we will check your settings on HERO (you cannot amend this at your end).

Later in the year, we will run a reunification drill as part of an evacuation. After an emergency, if we needed to send children home, we are legally only able to release children to adults you have listed as additional/emergency contacts. We will be sending a list of who you have included. Are your contact details correct?

Year 5-8 Information Evening

We look forward to talking with caregivers and students next Tuesday evening.

FoSS Family Picnic

The weather is not looking great for tomorrow. We will make the decision by lunchtime tomorrow. If not on, it will be cancelled, not postponed.

Road Safety

This morning, one of our parents observed a student scoot at speed across the road, without stopping, slowing down or looking. Please discuss and check how your child is staying safe (walking/biking or scootering) to and from school.
