As you read this we are one week in for this term. Looking at the calendar of events, happenings, meetings and things happening at Shotover we are not easing into the year at all. Check out the school calendar on the website for all the events and upcoming public holidays for 2018. Better still, add it to your calendar feed and any changes to events will be updated if and when changes are made.
This week we welcome a couple of new staff in the Shotover mix. Laura Weyman-Jones began as our Resource Master. This is a brand new position that will see Laura carry out a wide variety of tasks at Shotover. Most of these are focussed around providing on-site techie support and also assisting in the operation of the library. We are looking forward to having Laura on the team and making use of her varied skill set. In addition to Laura we also welcomed Anna Browne on to the payroll. Anna is joining us as our Sports Coordinator. We have increased the hours for this role in 2018 from 10 to 20 per week. With the changes coming into place for Central Otago sports this year the role of sports coordinator has become quite critical in the life of Shotover. James who established this position for us in the second half of last year has resigned and will be spending more time being Dad and focussing on some other goals. We thank James’ for his willingness to be flexible and take a large amount of some logistical load off many of the teaching team.
Cast your minds back to late last year and you may remember we had a visit from ERO (Education Review Office) the Government body charged with checking schools are offering a great deal for Kiwi kids. We are in the final stages of being able to talk publicly about the report. Rest assured as soon as the confirmed report is sent to us we will let you know.
Looking forward to a fantastic year.
