What an incredible experience! Our Senior School learners have had a noho marae at Kirikiriroa.

We at Silverdale Normal School would like to extend our heartiest greetings to all our whānau who will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr later this week.

Due to the colder weather, we have now had to move in-doors for our weekly assemblies.

Across every level of our school, students are learning more about themselves through Zones of Regulation. Here is an idea you might like to use that supports this approach at home!

This term we are exploring what happens to things when they are heated, cooled or mixed. A term of experiments!

Next Monday, 17 May here at school we are hosting a community hui. All invited!

This term, milo (with a marshmallow), will be available for students to buy on Friday mornings before school.

Our Term 2 Jumpstart programme starts again tomorrow in Room 3 with our new entrant teacher, Melanie Freeman.

We had a visit from Jimmy Jumper at our Assembly late last term. Three lucky children who were able to answer questions were each given a bag of goodies from the Credit Union. If you would like your child to open a Jimmy Jumper bank account, please come and pick up a banking pack from the School Office.

We are an online store, with close to 10,000 products available for purchase. Silverdale Normal School will receive 50% of the profits from each sale made. As a parent or supporter of the school you now have the option to make your next purchase through this store, knowing that you have not only paid the same as elsewhere (or even lower) but that a significant portion of the profits is going to help Silverdale Normal School .

On Monday, 17th May, we will be hosting a community hui here at school. The purpose will be to hear from Tawhiri Gilbert. Tawhiri has been working with our school this year to learn about us, who we are and what makes us so awesome.

Fun Languages offers an opportunity for children to learn Spanish.

We would like to thank Hannah Grainger from McDonald's Hamilton, and Carla and Marion Moreno Carmona from Columbus Coffee (Mitre 10, Ruakura) who have kindly provided us with player of the day certificates for our winter sports teams this year.

All games are held at Gallagher's Hockey Centre unless otherwise specified.

First Credit Union provide school banking to our school and close to 100 other schools throughout New Zealand. From Term Two students participating in the First Credit Union School Banking Programme will start working towards receiving rewards from their first deposit.

We would like to remind you that we have two 'Teacher Only Days' this term. Friday 18th June (This day is Kāhui Ako wide - including Berkley Normal Middle School and Hillcrest High School) and Friday 9th July, the last day of the school term.

On Friday, 9th April, 19 energetic students walked to Jansen park to play in a friendly touch rugby tournament against teams from Knighton, Hillcrest Normal and Hamilton East Schools.

This term our after school drama programme for middle and senior school students is being held on a Friday afternoon due to sports practices after school on a Thursday.

On Monday, 21st June,we will be holding our annual Pyjama Day! This is a fun day here at school where children come dressed in their Pyjamas and take part in fun activities in class.

We would like to remind you that ourschool runs a pre-school Jump Start programme on a Thursday afternoon from 1.45 to 2.45 pm in Room 3. This is available to all pre-school children and their parents for up to ten weeks before a child starts school.

Yummy sticker sheets for collecting cut-out labels and individual Yummy apple stickers for our school’s share of free sports gear, are available from the children’s counter at the School Office.

Classes are being held twice a week for six weeks, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 11.45am at Wintec - Room DLG.26 (D Block, Lower Ground Floor, Room 26)

Acro dance is a mix between dancing and gymnastics. Classes have a focus on strength, flexibility, tricks and learning dances to music. Group and individual classes for students of any ability aged 4.5+.
