Our house groups are based on the Saints; Mary, Joseph and Mary MacKillop.

House groupings and house competitions also encourage and enable our student leaders to shine. Two house leaders are chosen from among the older students to lead each house group.

Our inter-house competitions and activity days/afternoons are organised and run by our Kaitiaki Group.

​Students sense of inclusion at St Joseph's is continually encouraged through our every day lives, but this is further enhanced by the engagement in in a common enterprise or team. This can have academic benefits as well as social-emotional ones. When learners are really excited about school, they are happier and they tend to learn more. This approach is supported by research linking an increased sense of belonging to increased achievement.
