Special Catholic Character
St Joseph's School Pleasant Point - February 26, 2024
Our Catholic Identity at St Joseph’s Pleasant Point
At St Joseph’s Pleasant Point, we are committed to educating students in an environment of Christ’s love, fostering faith, learning, and service. As a Catholic school, we guide students in developing a deep relationship with Jesus and living out Christian values in their daily lives.
Our Special Character is woven into all aspects of school life, including our Strategic and Annual Plans, Board policies, and daily interactions. We encourage active participation in school liturgies, Masses, and Parish Sacramental Programs, nurturing a strong faith community.
We follow the Tō Tātou Whakapono Religious Education curriculum, which helps students grow in faith through scripture, tradition, prayer, and Catholic social teaching. Our learning experiences integrate faith into all areas, promoting encounters with Christ, social justice, and a lifelong journey of discipleship.
Inspired by St Mary MacKillop, we embrace her core values in all we do. Do Your Bit reminds us to take responsibility and contribute positively to our school and community. Attitude of Gratitude encourages us to be thankful and appreciate the blessings in our lives. Make Room for Others teaches us to be inclusive, kind, and welcoming to all. Listen to God’s Call reminds us to trust in God’s guidance and seek ways to serve others. These values shape our students into compassionate, resilient, and faith-filled individuals.
Guided by Catholic Social Teaching, we uphold principles such as human dignity, solidarity, stewardship, and the common good, ensuring our students develop a sense of responsibility to serve others. At St Joseph’s, faith and education go hand in hand, shaping young people who live with compassion, integrity, and a commitment to making a difference.
