Tumuaki/Principal's Welcome
St Joseph's Pleasant Point - January 9, 2025
We warmly welcome you to St Joseph’s School, Pleasant Point. We are a small, rural Catholic primary school (Years 1-8) located in the heart of Pleasant Point, a rural town with a population of approximately 1200. St Joseph’s is a 3 teacher school. The school community enjoys easy access to a wide variety of recreational opportunities.
A very warm welcome to St Joseph’s Pleasant Point, a learning community that I feel privileged to lead and support.
As Principal, I am passionate about creating a school where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our dedicated team is committed to understanding each student’s story, ensuring they feel a strong sense of belonging and purpose. We see our role as working in partnership with whānau to nurture confident, capable, and compassionate young people.
Our curriculum is rich in both content and experience, designed to meet students where they are in their learning journey while inspiring them to grow. We believe learning should be engaging, purposeful, and challenging, empowering our students to carry their curiosity and passion into their future. As a rural Catholic school, we take pride in fostering a strong sense of community, faith, and service—values that are at the heart of everything we do.
Beyond the classroom, we are proud members of the Catholic Kāhui Ako, working closely with other Catholic schools to strengthen learning opportunities. We are also part of the Rural Schools Association, which allows our students to connect with others through shared events and sporting competitions, building friendships and teamwork along the way.
On a personal note, my husband Roy and I have been married for 27 years, and we are blessed with four wonderful boys. I understand the importance of a supportive, nurturing school environment, not just as an educator but as a parent.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about St Joseph’s Pleasant Point. However, nothing compares to experiencing the warmth and spirit of our school firsthand. I would love to meet you, show you around, introduce you to our team and students, and share what makes our school such a special place.
