School Swimming Sports

Last Friday, nearly 100 tamariki from Years 5 - 8 competed in our kura swimming sports at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre. It was awesome to see the talent in the pool (you have value), the encouragement from the stands (we succeed together), and the big parent contingency on the sideline (others matter).

One Hour a Day - Reading, Writing & Maths

Starting from Term 1 2024, children in Years 0–8 will be taught reading, writing, and maths for an average of one hour a day in each skill. Daily teaching, along with a quality curriculum and good teaching practices, has been shown to improve children’s progress and achievement.

2024 Teacher Only Days

The Ministry of Education is providing schools with additional Teacher Only Days in 2024 to continue to work on the revised NZ Curriculum. The Board of Trustees would like to provide advanced warning to our community that Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School will be closed for instruction on FRIDAY 31st May 2024 & FRIDAY 25th OCTOBER 2024.

REMINDER: Student Cellular Devices at School Procedures

As you are aware the new Government has brought in new legislation regarding students bringing cell phones and cellular devices to school. This campaign has been called - "Phones Away for the Day". The regulations require that schools must ensure students do not use or access a phone or cellular device while they are attending school, including during lunchtime and breaks. This includes students who are on a school event outside the school grounds.
