Ko Janeane Reid tōku ingoa

Ko au te Tumuaki o te kura o Te Waka Unua

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa

I am so privileged to be leading learning in my role of Principal | Tumuaki at Te Waka Unua School and serve a community where we celebrate each child's unique attributes and foster a love of learning. I have the pleasure of watching our children learn, grow and celebrate their achievements as they go through their journey here at Te Waka Unua.

My team and I aim to  work in partnership with families to provide every student with the opportunity to be the best they can be. At the heart of our school culture is a commitment to creating a happy and positive learning environment where we strive to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and motivated to learn.

Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to build strong relationships with students, fostering a sense of belonging that encourages academic and personal growth.  We celebrate achievements, big and small, and encourage a growth mindset where challenges are viewed as opportunities for learning. Our vibrant school community, filled with supportive teachers and engaged families, ensures that our students have the opportunity to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Our commitment is to ensure that every student has a positive and enriching school pathway, one that nurtures their potential and inspires them to thrive.  Our aim is to provide a school that every member of our community can be proud of.

By working together, we create an environment that not only supports academic growth but also instils values of respect, empathy, and collaboration. I believe together we can empower our children to become confident learners, positive and responsible citizens and have a desire to be lifelong learners.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini – Success is not the work of an individual but the work of many.
