Congratulations to all the boys in the stand for the First XV Waitaki match last Wednesday.

Timaru Boys’ High School is planning on holding its junior school WORK DAY on Friday 28 September (last day of Term 3).

The 135th Waitaki inter-school was played in cool damp conditions in Timaru on Wednesday the 29 August. Timaru emerged as clear cut winners 9-4 in the overall exchange.

We were very fortunate to have renowned historian, Professor Glyn Harper visit our school on Wednesday 15 August.

The Thomas House annual ski trip to Roundhill is an eagerly anticipated event on the hostel calendar.

At the recent 39th Artarama Prizegiving held on 18 August at the Aigantighe Art Gallery, two of our students came away with overall prizes, out of all the entries from local schools throughout South Canterbury.

Over the past two terms, 10MF and 9Totara have been working on Science Fair projects, investigating topics of interest.

As part of Engineering Week, on 15 August, the senior ANTS group and other senior scientists travelled to Christchurch to visit Dynamic Controls which is a manufacturer of electric wheelchairs.

Thank you to the staff and students who gave up a Sunday morning to help clean up our local coastline, and in the process, bagged a trailer load of tyres, plastic and scrap metal.

The TBHS Trapshooting team competed in the Aoraki School Shoot on Sunday 12 August.

It is great to see our Arts students out and about, providing entertainment at a number of local venues.

Caleb Cameron continues to tap his way to success, having recently competed in an Australia NZ and Europe competition where he walked away with four first placings and four seconds out of the eight dances he entered.

Hi, I’m Will Pudney, currently the Student Representative on the Board of Trustees as well as being both a School and Hostel Prefect.

The final whistle has blown on what was a very successful season for Timaru Boys’ High Football both on and off the field.

Congratulations must go once again to Will Gibson who showed his waterskiing prowess on the international stage, finishing just outside the medals in fifth place at the Junior World Waterski Championships held at Spain’s Sesena Waterski Complex.

A warm welcome is extended to our two recently co-opted Board of Trustees members David Forman and Nick Light who bring strong skillsets to an increasingly demanding Board workload.

Through the joint efforts of a number of agencies, along with Aoraki Development and especially with the drive from TBHS Careers department and Opihi College, a highly successful Careers Expo was held in Temuka.

Sexuality education is a key area of learning in The Health and Physical Education Curriculum.

There is an opportunity to have a go at rowing or coxswaining and see if the sport is for you.

Our annual school ball is being held on Friday 14 September for Year 12 and 13 students who are eligible to attend through good attendance and work record to date.
