Another busy term in the life of our school comes to an end.

We finished the term with our Distinction Assembly on Thursday.

How are they being used this year?

It's been a busy first term.

The Home Association of Timaru High School Old Girls held a successful morning tea and AGM at the dining room of The House on 25 March.

We have had a great start to the year with students participating in a number of exciting career events.

Our Young Farmers girls helped with the Agri Kids competition at the Mackenzie Show over Easter weekend.

In class during Term 1 students had been studying how coastal processes operate and interact along the South Canterbury coastline to create unique natural features in our geographic environment such as Dashing Rocks and Waitarakoa (Washdyke) Lagoon.

Fieldwork is an essential part of Geography as it gives opportunities for learning which cannot be duplicated in the classroom. It greatly enhances students' understanding of geographical features and concepts and allows students to develop an understanding of real-world geography in their local environments.

The girls have been participating in mountain-biking, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking so far this year.

Girls from Years 10 to 11 have taken part in two Duke of Edinburgh Award tramps this term.

The PTA had their March meeting last week and are working on setting up sponsors for this year’s Grocery Grab which will be held in Term 2.

One of our values at Timaru Girls' High School is Heritage. Part of this is acknowledging the long history that our school has and the girls who have been a part of it.

On Tuesday 30 March nine of our Māori students attended an open day at Ara.
