As I write this article, it is on the day that we are holding our Academic Conferencing meetings with our families.

This week we bid farewell to TGHS stalwart Mark Houghton who is finishing up this term after 40 years of teaching.

This year our school had many international students coming in from various countries like Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

On the 9th of March the year 12 Biology classes went to the rocky shore to gather data for their Ecology Trip.

Trials are over and teams are sorted, Netball at TGHS is ready for the season to start.

In class, during Term 1 we have been studying how the natural environment of Aoraki Mt Cook National Park and the Mackenzie Basin has formed and changed over time. We have also been learning about how the different elements of relief, climate, vegetation, and soil interact to create spatial variation within the area.

On Saturday 11th of March 2023 a group of Year 12 students volunteered to take part in the Relay For Life South Canterbury down at Caroline Bay.

After last year's cancellation of the Summer Exchange due to covid in our community, it was fantastic to finally board the bus and head to Oamaru on Tuesday 7th March for the annual Summer Exchange v Waitaki Girls' High School.

This year our 13 Ag Science class joined the TBHS class on their ECAN Water Quality field trip to the Opihi River on the 2nd and 3rd of March.

The Commerce girls heading to America in September wish to acknowledge and thank the following people and businesses for supporting their recent Quiz Night by providing a range of prizes.

Pre-season training is well underway for our TGHS U15 and U18 rugby teams.

Free Parenting Programme for ages 10-16 year olds.

Starting in Term 2, the Dance Studio Timaru is offering street dance classes for ages three years old and up with a FREE trial lesson in the second week of the school holidays.
