Principal's Word - Term 4 Week 1

    by Jo Hunnikin

Kia ora everyone,

Welcome back to Term 4. It's been a different start as we've moved into being a cellphone free school. The students have been fantastic and whilst we've had 17 confiscations this week the atmosphere around the school has changed for the better.  Breaktimes are noisy and it feels like we have more students on site as there is a lot more activity and 'buzz'! Today the seniors ran a game of "Manhunt" which was really fun and students have been playing board games in the library and the basketball courts are full!

During assembly today we reminded students about the new cellphone rules. They need to be off and in bags but prefably not at school at all. A first confiscation means the student gets their cellphone back at the end of the day and a second confiscation means that a caregiver needs to come in to collect the phone.

It's going to be an interesting weekend, with elections and rugby to keep us occupied!

Have a great weekend,

Jo
