Kia ora Everyone!

Its been a week of social events this week. Last weekend, our students took part in the Eric Batchelor Cup, competing against 7 other teams from the Cadets, Waimate Rugby and Army teams. It was such a fun event, I was tired just watching. The teams played 7 games of football, 7 games of touch, 7 games of netball and 7 games of volleyball before competing in a final tug-of-war. Our students placed 4th overall and took out the netball competition.

Early on the Sunday morning, our prefects and I attended a wreath laying ceremony at Eric's grave and this was attended by his widow Thurza. It was a privilege to be part of that ceremony and I was very proud of how ou prefects conducted themselves as suh a formal occasion.

Today, myself and some ex-Waihao Downs students attended the opening of the new admin block. There were lots of guests including the oldest remaining ex-pupil in the region who officially cut the ribbon. Our students were full of nostalgia as they visited their old primary school and couldnt wait to go down the slide!

Have a great weekend,

Jo
