Junior Speech Finals

by Mrs Stillibourne - HoL English

The Year 9 Speech Finals were held last week, showcasing speakers from each Year 9 class. The calibre of speeches was very high, making the judges’ decision very challenging. Eve Arena was the overall winner of the event, with her enthusiastic and engaging delivery. The Year 10 Speech Finals were held on Wednesday, featuring three representatives from each Year 10 class, Sophie Braid was the winner. The speech topics were diverse, as students had an opportunity to select a topic that they were passionate about. Again, the caliber of speeches was very high, with Sophie Braid being awarded first place. Congratulations to Eve and Sophie and all of the finalists. Public speaking is a highly valued skill at Waitaki Girls’ High School and in society. We applaud all students who delivered their speeches in class over the past few weeks.
