We have come to that time of the year when we farewell our Year 13s and release senior levels to their NZQA examinations.

The Zonta Sports Awards are held annually and celebrate secondary school sports within Canterbury. Finalists, individuals and teams, in a number of different categories, are invited to attend the awards dinner where the winners are announced.

In the final week of the recent holidays, Zoe Trolove travelled to Bluff for the NZSS Mountain Biking Championships.

We are very pleased to announce that Isla Hindin is the winner of the inaugural Buchanan-King Emerging Author Award.

Through the success of our Senior A Netball team at SISS, placing second, this earned them a spot at Nationals.

This week Christchurch Girls' High School/Te Kura o Hine Waiora remembers a former teacher and colleague, John Wilson. John taught Social Studies and Geography at CGHS for 37 years and then spent many years after his retirement relieving and supervising examinations.

On Monday 31 October school will finish after period 4, which is 1pm. This allows staff to set up and prepare for the final prizegiving on Monday evening and student performers to prepare at the Christchurch Boys' High School auditorium.

At the end of Term 3, I went to Australia where I stayed in Gold Coast and competed in 4 Junior Tennis Tournaments.

Newly formed student run South Asian Dance group, Luni Solar, were invited to perform at the Diwali celebrations on 22 October and were well received.

A couple of celebrations occurred this week in the library.

Last term our Level 3 Business Studies students had the amazing opportunity to sell their products at Ballantynes.
