There are many exciting upcoming events nearing as we approach the end of the year, including Presentation Day and a High Achievers Ceremony. We also have many many wonderful achievements to celebrate this term such as the successes of our Year 12 students and the appointment of our new student leadership team.

As the academic year comes to a close, I can’t help but be filled with pride and a sense of accomplishment when I reflect on what we have achieved this year as a learning community.

The school culminates in a very busy period for the Visual Arts faculty as we complete our 2023 programs and plan for some exciting initiatives in 2024.

Over two days, a range of Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design students performed in the Arts Unit Drama Festival at the Seymour Centre.

There was joy, tears and a wonderful sense of unity that filled the air as our Year 12 students celebrated their Graduation from our school.

Students from Years 10 and 11 were invited to explore careers in the Navy, visiting an exhibition at the International Convention Centre where they learned about pathways for sailors, officers, technicians, trades and much more.

As we approach the end of the academic year it is my pleasure to reflect on the achievements and experiences of our Year 7 cohort. This year has been marked by growth, learning, and numerous memorable events.

On 24 November, a number of students from Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design travelled to Qudos Bank Arena to perform in the Annual NSW Schools Spectacular - an Australian variety show featuring more than 5,500 students from public schools across New South Wales.

2023 has been an eventful year. We wanted to take a moment to inform you of all the exciting things that have happened this year at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design within the mathematics department.

Term 4 has been an eventful one so far for Year 10 students as they have undertaken their yearly examinations. Completing Year 10 exams is a significant milestone, marking the culmination of weeks of preparation, late-night study sessions, and the conquering of academic challenges.

What an amazing year it has been for our sports and physical education students!

The Year 9 Peer Support Leaders Training Program unfolded with enthusiasm at the end of Week 5. This two-day training even culminated in an exciting fashion parade, adding a touch of creativity and fun to this important leadership initiative.

In November, the Dulwich Dance Ensemble made their way to the Sydney Dance Company to watch the world premier of Somos - a dance work featuring a cascade of intimate solos, duets, and trios, with a distinct Spanish flavour.

The new Extension English 2 cohort have commenced their studies this term, and are in the process of investigating and researching their chosen areas of interest in preparation for composing their Major Work.

As we bid farewell to another incredible year it's time to look back on our Year 8 cohort in the vibrant landscape of our high school. The 2023 year has been a tapestry of experiences, where students embraced challenges and celebrated successes.

Year 10 students recently undertook a Barista Course at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL

SMART Recovery is a free, confidential, non-judgemental mutual-aid group program that supports you take charge of addictive behaviours such as drugs, alcohol, gambling, food, gaming, digital media use or other behaviours of concern.

As part of the Year 10 Transition Program, Year 10 undertook Digital Balance Workshops on 16 November.

A huge thank you to Marrickville High School for welcoming our Performance Club students to their Year 10 Drama performance of Caryl Churchill's 'Love and Information'.

Year 12 Biology class has been actively investigating the process of mitosis in garlic root tip cells.

Years 10 and 11 Drama students went to a talk at NIDA by Kip Williams, the current artistic director and co-CEO of Sydney Theatre Company.

As we bid farewell to another remarkable academic year, it is with immense pride and gratitude that we reflect on the accomplishments and milestones achieved by the HSIE faculty at DHSVAD during the past year. It has been a year filled with intellectual growth and a strong commitment to fostering a deep understanding of the past and present.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our school community - the successful completion of the Raise Mentoring Program by our Year 9 students!

The Art Gallery of New South Wales invited Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to participate in the Djamu Senior program.

The Support Unit students have had a very busy time over the term, accessing numerous external service providers to support their participation in the community. The programs engage students with learning how to develop self-advocacy skills in order to build their personal tool kit of strategies to help them in their post-school life.

Thanks to the families who joined us at our final community events for the year, supporting the unique creativity focus of our school and connecting parents and students to enjoy together.

The Junior Basketball Academy is hosting a School Holiday Basketball Camp from 15-25 January for boys and girls aged 5-14 at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design.
