As you know, Hornby High School is in the midst of an almost complete school rebuild. We are the first Christchurch secondary school to undergo such extensive redevelopment. This is taking place directly in the middle of the current school campus, while we continue to operate as a school.

Hornby High School will hold an Information Evening on Wednesday 15 May at 6pm in the auditorium.

Season 2 of '13 Reasons Why' is coming on Friday 18th May. The first series was very popular, but left a significant number of viewers feeling distressed and in need of support.

Term 2 has started with students showing great interest in a range of after school sports opportunities. Sports include: Netball, Basketball, Badminton, Rugby, Rugby League, Football, Hockey and Small Bore Rifle shooting.

​Last term the visiting Thai students​ had an evening of Thai food and culture for their home stay families.

At the end of last term we welcomed the wonderful Lavina Williams into our Performing Arts whānau for two days thanks to the NZ Music commission.

Once again we had the pleasure of hosting the festival at Hornby High School. The Auditorium and surrounds were buzzing all day with colourful characters like Caliban, King Lear, and Macbeth.

Last term 54 students from Ringwood High School, based in Melbourne came to Hornby High School. They were on a Humanities Tour, traveling all around New Zealand learning about Geography and History. They arrived in Christchurch after a few days in Rotorua and Wellington.

Throughout Term One, Year 8 and Year 9 Music and Drama classes having been studying the performing art of 'Musical Theatre'.

The ESOL Department and Filipino Youth Group will be hosting a Salo Salo evening on Thursday 7th June from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the school auditorium.
