A few words from Leo

He tina ki runga, he tāmore ki raro. In order to flourish above one must be firmly rooted below.

Our schools whakatauki (proverb) highlights the notion that setting up a strong foundation, is often the key to long term success. This is apt when we reflect over the last fortnight within Hukanui and look at the events facilitated. Some of the more notable ones including new community transition meetings, parent conferences, our senior Student Leader interviews and our first PTA meeting, all being the starting point of great things to come.

The community transition sessions in particular being a real source of inspiration and affirmation. The first being made available to all new families who have come in at different levels of the school and are seeking a little clarity around who we are, how we operate and how we can best work in collaboration to support their children.

The second event that focused on our Chinese community was a real learning curve, lots of fun and something we hope to build on over time. Our initial goals being to come together, support parents who had limited English, provide information on elements of school operation and then explore opportunities for the Chinese Community to support Hukanui.
