On Tuesday March 6 Katikati College hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Primary Industries, led by the Hon Meka Whaitiri.

The Katikati College community banded together on Tuesday February 20 to raise funds and show their support for Tonga and Samoa in the wake of Cyclone Gita's devastation

This is the major fundraising event for Life Education in the Western Bay of Plenty region this year. It will be held on Friday 4 May.

Special thanks to TECT and The Lion Foundation for their support with our recent grant applications. TECT have provided funding of $36,242 for the purchase of IT/AV equipment and to assist with the upgrading of our security system. The Lion Foundation has allowed us to purchase 60 Chrome Books, cases and licences, along with 2 charge and sync cards, with their generous funding of $15,000. Thank you!

On Saturday March 3, for the first time in at least ten years, seven Katikati College senior students represented our College in senior debating at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Regional Debate Finals. Kitted out in blazers and ties they drove in to Tauranga Boys' College to face off against the best debaters from almost all the secondary schools in the wider Bay of Plenty.

Katikati sent 6 tennis players over to the tennis championships held at Papamoa on Friday February 23.

The final weekend of BOP Schools Volleyball saw some great results from our two senior teams.

Katikati College Championship Day for Swimming took place on Wednesday 21st February at the Dave Hume Pool. A good turnout of swimmers from all age groups saw some great competition and a fierce house rivalry with MacMillan House ahead after the championship day but with the two fun days still to come.

A wet start to our annual athletics champs signalled the possibility of a miserable day but the sun came out and another great school event was held.

Katikati Wrestling Club has now started for 2018. It is held on Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the A&P Hall, Major Street. All are welcome. No experience is necessary. For queries, please call Ross Tanner on 027 2564470
