The Significance of Easter

The Significance of Easter  by KingsWay School

Easter is a very special time of year for us as Christians. We spend class time unpacking the truth of what was accomplished when Jesus died on the cross and rose again three days later. We remind our students of the incredible feat which changed humanity’s ability to have a right relationship with God for all of eternity. Our students reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus as detailed in the Bible in a variety of age-appropriate ways and are invited to engage on a personal level. Our heart is that each student would have a revelation of the love of God and the significance of His sacrifice and that this would grow their personal faith in Jesus.

Easter Assemblies at the Senior and Junior Campuses

We want to honour the tremendous effort of all involved in making the Easter Assemblies happen his year. The Year 13 Arts Council has worked exceptionally hard in overseeing this Easter event, bringing to life the message of Hope in an authentic and powerful way for each year level. It has been wonderful to see students collaborating and leading in this space, and their commitment behind the scenes. Thank you to all students and teachers involved in this event!

Students at our Senior Campus gathered in assemblies to recount and celebrate the event of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The Senior School choir sang along with the worship band, and we listened to powerful spoken words and watched dancers illustrate hope and freedom. A visiting youth pastor shared how Easter is a message of hope. This message concluded with a reminder that salvation through Jesus is accessible to us all,

“ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

At the Junior Campus, the Primary students shone during their Easter assembly celebration. This was evidence of how the children have been focussed on the message of Easter for some time. They enjoyed the video of their peers explaining the message of Jesus at Easter as well as the skits other students performed. The Primary choir leading worship was also a highlight. There is something special about young children expressing their love for Jesus.

Other Activities Leading up to Easter

Junior Secondary – The Case for Christ

Over the past couple of weeks, the Junior Secondary have been performing a short courtroom drama in three parts, putting the evidence for and against the resurrection of Jesus on trial. Three professors took the witness stand and gave alternative theories, Roman soldiers discussed crucifixion and guard details, while Paul and Mary Magdalene shared their testimonies. All were quizzed and cross-examined by the prosecution and defence before 200 students unwittingly played the jury. Mr Hawkins wrote the Easter play based on Lee Strobel’s, The Case for Christ, and he and a team of dedicated drama-enthusiasts have been working on it as a Flexi Block option throughout Term 1. Each section of the play concluded with small group discussions unpacking the content presented, and feedback from students and staff alike was enthusiastic.

Senior School - Reflections of the Easter Story

Over two weeks, students were invited to walk in reflection of the Saviour’s steps towards crucifixion. At each location, we took time to reflect on Jesus’s state of mind & a sense of purpose in the journey to the Cross. We finished with a message focusing on the Resurrection and shared communion. Students acknowledged that the experience was very meaningful.

Enjoy celebrating Jesus in your family this season.
