On Thursday 27th we have our Matariki/CAPES Assembly. Next week the school will come together to make a poi each and then we will learn a poi waiata (song) and kanikani (dance) to perform together at our Assembly. If you would like to come and help the children make poi you'd be a welcome set of extra hands on Thursday 20th from 1.30pm.

ICAS Competitions

If you have not already registered your child for ICAS there is still an opportunity to do so – Students can participate in the University of New South Wales Australasian International Competitions (ICAS). The competitions are open for Year 4 to Year 8 students. We enter students in Writing, Spelling, English, Mathematics and Science. ICAS provides an opportunity for your child to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation. Each student who participates will receive a certificate, either of participation or indicating their level of success, and a detailed results letter indicating which questions they answered correctly.

The online competitions will be held in our school on the following days:

Writing Monday 5 August
English Thursday 13 August
Science Monday 20 August
Spelling Thursday 22 August
Maths Thursday 27 August

The cost for ICAS English, Maths, Science and Spelling is $21.50 or ICAS Writing is $27.75. Payment should be made to the school account. Entries and payment for ICAS Competitions must be made by Friday, 5th July (end of Term 2). Please email admin@outram.school.nz to register your child or fill in the form attached to the letter linked below.

If you are interested in your child participating in other enrichment and extension opportunities here is further information for you. For a hard copy of the letter you or your child can pop into the office to collect, or let us know and we will email a copy to you. (NB: Kiwi Competition entries are closed for 2024)

Kiwi Competitions start next week for those that have registered.
