Congratulations to Miss Terry MacTavish, pictured above receiving her honour from Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy at the Investiture ceremony at Government House on Tuesday. Miss MacTavish was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to theatre and education.

Congratulations to Aliyah Christos and Brianna Reid who recently represented New Zealand in the Under 18 Ice Hockey team in Abu Dhabi over the holidays. Attached is an article written by Brianna Reid.

At the end of last term we ran the annual school cross country. Thankfully the weather held out for us and it was a great day. Well done to all the participants and the winners of the different age groups.

The Arts Council 2019 have had a positive and enthusiastic start to the year commencing with the Annual Easter Egg Colouring Competition.

During the holidays two major surfing competitions took place. The Canterbury Women’s Champs were held at New Brighton Beach in Christchurch and the South Island Surf Champs were held in Dunedin.

This year the senior Dance classes have been out and about and getting inspiration from around Dunedin.

It has been busy in the PE dept with the recent annual Year 13 Duathlon and the Year 12 Recreation Studies snorkeling unit.

Queen's rowing parents fundraising pays off with our new $12,000 quad.

Thank you to the students from Queen's represented our school at the Dunedin ANZAC dawn service where they lay a wreath to commemorate those lost in battle. Lest we forget.

Nominations are open for the Board of Trustees Elections. Letters and nomination forms have already been sent out.

During the first week of the holidays Krystal Walsh attended the UN Youth Conference in Auckland.

The last games at the Edgar Centre were played on April 11th.

Olivia Glover, Year 10, has had an excellent first show season with her horse, Rheba.

Sadly we have farewelled one of our aerobics coaches, Emily White.

On Saturday the 6th April the annual South Dunedin Street Festival was held and Queen's High School was represented on the Dance stage by He Waka Kōtuia and Year 13 dance students Serena Evile, Danielle Jenkins and Scarlett Rogers.
