On Wednesday, 24 February 2021, we held our Senior Investiture in the ARENA to introduce the senior prefects to the whole school.

It has been a smooth and calm start to the year. I am excited to see such a strong and talented number of new students to the kura this year.

Kia ora and welcome back to another year of learning, sisterhood, leadership and fun. For our Year 13 students this is their last, first term ever and unfortunately we started one student down. Kimalyn Smith - a beautiful soul that we know will always be with us and one we will never forget! RIP Kim! We are almost at the end of our journey here at RGHS but there is still lots to do before then. I have been lucky enough to learn alongside these girls from our earlier days in 2017 as Year 9 students, to 2021 as Year 13. Recently we have elected our Prefect Team and run Peer Support Sessions with our Year 9's. Salmond House (Y13 Common Room) loves having the girls back and the girls are looking prouder than ever! Let's make the most of this year!

NCEA: Congratulations to all students who passed Level 1, 2 or 3 NCEA last year. Below is a list of those students who Endorsed with Excellence in their year level course for 2020:

Nau mai hoki mai. Our year has started with a level of passion, enthusiasm and commitment that keeps our young women at the heart of all that we do. We are mindful of the impact of the Co-vid virus on our world and continue to grow the way we use technology, design our learning programmes and build relationships with our young women and their whānau.

Police Studies is entering its fourth year with over 90 schools in New Zealand teaching the course. Together with students from Rotorua Boys' High School, we held our annual noho marae with members of the Rotorua Police to learn the Police PRIMED values and to start working on skills that will make effective Police officers.

In Week 3 of this Term all Year 9 students were given the opportunity to attend our Noho Marae in magical Maketu. The purpose of the noho was to enhance ‘whakawhanaungatanga’ (togetherness/relationship building).

A warm welcome to all our students taking Science this year. We hope 2021 will be more settled without COVID-19 interrupting and with planned events able to take place.

With 2021 here and our new students finding their way around school, it is so exciting. Firstly, I would like to congratulate and introduce you to our 2021 Sports Prefects, Haylee Jones (on the right) and Jade Fairley.(left) on the photo above.

Kiriwaitingi Pare Delamere Rei (Aunty Del/Nanny Rei) passed away on Saturday 20 February 2021. She passed away at the age of 73 surrounded in love and while the sadness is overwhelming, her final days were a reflection of all that she has given to the world - grace, care, humility and a never-ending sense of humour. She was the epitome of the word, 'manaaki' and taught us all about 'aroha.'
