On Monday the Junior and Middle School classes each had a visit from a firefighter as part of the Firewise inquiry that we have been working on.

It was inspiring to begin our journey with Ngati Haua listening to the ancient histories and learning about the journey of significant leaders in revitalising Maori language and culture.

Friday, 9th July is a Teacher Only Day and school will be closed that day for our students. Term 3 begins on Monday, 26th July.

Whole School Mid Year Assembly - Thursday, 1st July at 1.30pm. All welcome. The assembly will be held in the Morrison Memorial Theatre, Hillcrest High School on Masters Avenue. We will make a postponement announcement on our school app and facebook page on that morning if the weather is not good.

Individual and class photos will be taken at school on Wednesday morning, 7th July. If you would like a sibling photo taken, please collect and return a form listing your children's names and room numbers. The form is available from the School Office and must be returned to the Office before photo day. If there is no signed form, the photographers are not authorised to take a sibling photograph.

We have been learning that if we are feeling in the Yellow or Blue zones... sometime fidgeting can help us get back into the Green.

On Monday, 5 July we will be hosting a community hui here at school. All invited!

As is the tradition on World Music Day (21st June), our students were urged to take up the challenge in our morning tea break on Monday and ‘have a go’ at playing a musical instrument.

The senior school was extremely lucky to have Dr Carolyn King come and talk to us on Tuesday. Carolyn knows everything there is to know about predators in Aotearoa and shared that with us.

The Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is a group of parents and teachers that work to create fun events for the kids and fundraise for the school. We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally.

Due to severe mud, we are supporting the St Matthew's Church in asking you to please not to park on the grass. They kindly let us use their space and we need to follow their wishes.

Please check this regularly as all this good quality unnamed clothing will be sent to charity at the end of the term.

We were lucky enough recently to have a group of Year 5 and 6 students be invited to Hillcrest High School for a session on Robotics.

Last week Musical Theatre students from Wintec came and performed a play based on the Māori Pūrākau, "How the Kiwi Lost Its Wings".

This term, milo (with a marshmallow), is available for students to buy on Friday mornings before school.

All games are held at Gallagher's Hockey Centre unless otherwise specified. Please note - Silverdale Wetas are playing at St Pauls the next two Saturdays.

The YMCA will be running a holiday programme at our school from 12th to 23rd July.

Entertainment have extended the FREE upgrade from Single to Multi City until Wednesday, 30th June. They are also giving away a Queensland holiday for two. Anyone who purchases a Single City Membership during this period automatically goes into the draw to WIN!
