Tahuna athletes appeared to have done very well this year. We were very well represented in a number of finals.

In 2018 we are hosting groups of students from China. 

The 2017 School year is coming to end and it is appropriate that we reflect on another very successful and rewarding year at Tahuna.

Recently students in Mr Wells maths class have been learning about volume and capacity. 

This term Room 17 have been designing and making our own picture book! We get to write and illustrate it by ourselves which is a good learning opportunity and it is also super fun!

This year we have been working quite hard on building positive relationships with others. During our Kia Kaha unit we designed posters that support this concept.

Last week Rooms 16, 18 and 11 spent some time with Chop the lamb. 

For homework in weeks 4 to 6, Room 3 students have been travelling around the world checking out different volcano locations.  

Every Thursday chosen students from different schools around Dunedin gathered at Kaikorai Valley College to compete in the Dunedin Schools Table Tennis Competition. Approximately 60 students arrived at Kaikorai Valley and battled each other in exciting games of table tennis.

Room 14 has had some real cool college student teachers and this year was no exception. We say thank you to them and all college students who have come through Tahuna this year.

Question: How do you make an adult smile? Answer: Sing to them. That's exactly what our  students did and they did so in style.

Rooms 13 and 14 represented Tahuna at this year's Armistice ceremony held at the cenotaph opposite Toitu. On the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month 1918 World War 1 ceased. 

Room 13 joined Room 14 on the 11th of November at Queens Gardens to commemorate Armistice Day. This was followed by a trip to Toitu Museum to learn more about World War I. 

Tahuna students once again grab the opportunity to be part of a full day Orchestral Workshop.  The day at Kings and Queens was thoroughly enjoyed. 

Room 4 students hosted 2 junior classes from Musselburgh primary school for a "Mini World Cup Tournament" based on stepping up and using our Tahuna values. Each group chose a country to represent and had to use their creativity to decide on a suitable activity to take responsibility for. Everyone was respectful to each other and we celebrated the successful afternoon with a medal presentation ceremony. A great learning experience for all involved.

Room 4 recently did a creative writing task on how to be successful once Mrs Toa left for the rest of the year. These are a few of them.
