Empire of Dirt, owner/operator Adam finally put his tools down last Thursday, and had some fun after 3 weeks of hard work.
The final stage of the Te Puna School and Community Bike Project is complete.
Adam and Chris, (Empire of Dirt), worked methodically, and intricately from design, to creation to create a track that is next level.
Chris designed a fun, technical, challenging track for all wheels that our tamariki will grow into and never get bored of.
Just over 600 ton of Gap40 was delivered by Taylor Bro's which forms the foundation to the asphalt surface, which Acon Industries provided. Chris and Adam guided and supported the Acon asphalting team, which was all done by hand. It was hard, hot work, but Empire of Dirt are passionate and enthusiastic about their work, and as a result Te Puna School and the Community have the best school pump track in the WBOP.
The final step was spreading top soil around the perimeter, raking out the rough stuff, and hydroseeding the area.
This means the pump track will be out of bounds for at least another 4 weeks to allow the grass to grow.
We would like to acknowledge and thank Tect, the WBOP Council Community Match Grant and the PTA for their match contribution to complete this final stage.
To get to this point there have been many hours behind the scenes by a number of people.
A massive thanks to Neil, and the BOT for your ongoing support throughout this project, and our whānau, local and wider business community who have contributed so much too.
And a very special thank you to our wonderful PTA, partners and friends of the PTA, who have applied for grants, sponsored bikes, organized and run fundraisers, lead working bees and donated personal business hours to support and raise the funds needed to complete all of the work.
Te Puna School is very fortunate to have such a enthusiastic, dedicated team, who enjoy providing active opportunities for our tamariki.
We welcome anyone keen to be involved not matter how small or big your part, all contributions are welcome.
Can't wait to see what the team want to achieve in 2022!
