Making their way onto the Tauranga Boys' Campus, our incredible team of TGC debaters joined the other 15 schools to compete in the 2024 Bay Of Plenty Regional Debating Competition last weekend.

Level 1 Te Ao Māori students are learning about the tikanga and the skills in ngā mahi ā te whare pora - mahi raranga with raranga tutor, Rangi Ranui who is a Raranga Tutor at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, Tauranga.

On Monday 18 March, Te Mana o Taurikura TGC First XV Rugby kicked off their first preseason game against a touring Canadian School Carson Graham Secondary.

On Wednesday 13 March, a team of 13 swimmers represented Tauranga Girls’ College in the Bay of Plenty Secondary School Swimming Championships at Baywave.

We had students competing in the NZSS Open Water Swimming Championships on Saturday 16 March at Blue Lake, Rotorua

It’s been a fun and busy time in the library leading up to Easter. We ran a very popular colouring competition with some impressive entries, making it incredibly difficult to judge. A big congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who took the time to enter.

It was great to see so many of our community attend the 2024 NCEA information evening held at TGC this week.

The days are getting shorter, the term is getting longer and unfortunately, this means we are tired and need to remember to be kind and inclusive in our classrooms and our kura. As a result, the PB4L slide this week highlights our value of Manaakitanga.

At Tauranga Girls’ College, we encourage our ākonga to be present to attend school regularly, which Ministry Of Education states is greater than 90% attendance rate.

From 2024, all learners need to achieve a 20-credit co-requisite specific to these skills to be awarded any level of NCEA. The co-requisite is a one-off requirement.

Snaps and hums filled the air cut by wisdom and masterful word choices. TGC celebrated their second annual poetry slam in honour of World Poetry Day last week, and our ears and eyes were treated to some incredible upcoming talented poets.

Race Relations Day is an important occasion in New Zealand that is celebrated annually on Thursday 21 March. It coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in society.
