Timaru Girls’ High School now has a new supplier of uniform.

During the week of 13th-17th June was Pride Week in schools, where two of our students organised a few activities.

U15 rugby team being hosted by Mid Canterbury, sharing kai and talking. TGHS won this game 36-24.

Junior Netball teams battled wintery conditions in Development Tournament.

After two years of postponements and cancellations of school exchanges, it was fantastic to finally board the bus and head to Oamaru yesterday for the annual winter exchange v Waitaki Girls' High School.

Timaru Boys' and Girls' High junior Māori students have been embracing Matariki with creativity in their akomanga.

The theme for this years ball is ONCE UPON A TIME and will be held on Friday 12 August 2022

It is with sadness we advise the passing of Mrs Christian who was not only a past pupil (1957- 1961) but also a teacher at our school (2004 - approx. 2020)

HOW ARE THEY BEING USED THIS YEAR?

In Year 13 Chemistry students have been learning about Organic Chemistry.

We have had another busy term in the Careers Department which has provided a range of amazing opportunities for our students.

Year 12 student, Kelsey Davis, recently attended a Model EU Event at the University of Canterbury, where she was chosen as "Runner Up Delegate for the Education, Youth, Culture, and Sports Council". This is a fantastic achievement as the calibre of students was very high. Here is Kelsey's article:

The PB4L team at Timaru Girls’ High School has introduced Good Sorts awards. These are awarded to students as an acknowledgement of them consistently demonstrating our school values and expected behaviours in class.

Timaru Girls’ High School would like to extend a huge thank you to the businesses who have supported us by having Gateway students for work experience. 26 students have been out on placement this term.

It’s Board election time again. Next term we will be electing board members for the next three years.

On the 28th June, the Year 12 and 13 Outdoor Education classes travelled to Mt Somers to complete an overnight trip into Pinnacles Hut.

This year the TGHS 1st XI football team had an amazing season being unbeaten after 9 games including Waitaki exchange.

On the 14th June, the Year 12 and 13 Outdoor Education classes travelled to Mt Nimrod for their ‘Survival Trip’.

Year 13 History recently went on a three day field trip to Akora to help students research different aspects of settlement in Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula area.
