ESOL Team: Practicing Social & Language Learning in the Community

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Class took another step of learning by visiting the Waimate Town Cafe and confidently practice interpersonal & communication skills in real life setting.
by Ophelia Asentista

Waimate High School is proud to have its growing ESOL group - students from various countries namely Philippines, Nepal, South Africa and Fiji embracing cultural awareness and diversity.

This week, we started going out in the community to experience practical scenarios ordering in a cafe using the language skills we've learned in class.

This term, we aim to expose our group to various learning experiences such as visiting other schools showcasing our culture, conducting activities for our younger tamariki, creating meaningful relationships with others and cultivating leadership skills in the community.

Kia kaha tamariki ma!
