Spotlight on Leadership
In 2023 we ran a tuakana teina programme as a new initiative. We have developed this further in 2024.
Our Y13 peer support leaders play an important role in helping the Y9 navigate their first weeks at school. They have been joined by about 100 Y12 tuakana who have been going into our Wednesday Coll time. This means that there is one Y12/13 leader for every two Y9 students. The role of the tuakana is to be like a "big brother" at school. A student who is there to support and guide their teina. This week the tuakana and teina met to talk about resiliency and to find out about the upcoming Runathon event.
