In the first week of term 4 one of our Dance Academy teams took on the most prestigious Performing Arts competition in NZ.

The 2022 school year might be coming to a close but that hasn't stopped our teams and athletes from performing strongly across a range of sports and events. Volleyball, Athletics, Taekwondo and Life Saving have all been on the agenda for our students with some fantastic results.

There have been lots of great things happening across the Science Faculty this year, with students succeeding well, both in school and out of school. Some highlights are:

Burnside High School had four Zonta finalists in 2022.

For the third year the Digital Technology Department has held its annual Technology Fair

The eagerly anticipated 5-day field trip to Queenstown enabled a ‘real-world’ opportunity for students to develop and extend their geographical thinking and collaboration skills. This experience also provided fantastic opportunities for social interaction beyond the classroom.

It has been another busy year for The Burnside High School PTA. There have been four meetings throughout the year. We were very lucky to be joined by some fantastic speakers, including Simi Desor, Registered Psychologist and Dame Sue Bagshaw. Please join us for all meetings, it’s a great way to meet other parents and staff members and to learn more about how the PTA operates. All students and whanau welcome.

Hamish Cleary 12WRDS has successfully represented Burnside High School this year in Boccia.

Global languages, Science experiments, Team sports, Literature, Social Science, Choreography, Art skills, colourful maths, Pacifika kai, creating businesses and digital game design were only a part of what was on offer by Burnside High School to our talented and passionate Year 5-7 students within the Waimairi-iri Kāhui Ako.

This year had some key events for German! The annual competitions and scholarships available for Deutsch students began to slowly come back after COVID-19 hit, and the junior classes had numerous fun activities involving food and movies.

Looking back over 2022, 1st February seems to have just happened and yet, also feels way back in the distant past. Have a look at what's been happening in the Library this year.

This was a very successful year, despite the slow start due to Covid.

Three hundred and twenty students took a leadership role in Years 9 to 11 and made a wonderful contribution to the school.

Burnside High Debating has had a successful 2022 despite numerous setbacks.
