Our star Senior A Basketball team claimed victory in the Secondary School Competition on Friday night. Playing in the final against Taieri College Columba won 76 -62 in a tough-fought battle on the court.

Year 8 spent the majority of Term 2 working on a range of Science Fair projects.

Our Columba trap shooting team competed in a 3-day Bodkin Shield competition, held from the 19th to the 21st of August, with the Friday being hosted in Moa Creek, Saturday in Alexandra, and Sunday at the Wanaka Gun Club.

On Wednesday this week the Ariki Cup Cross Country Champs were held at Kettle Park for Columba Intermediate students wanting to qualify for the upcoming Otago Cross Country Champs. Columba had nine students competing in the event, and all who took part should be very proud of their efforts!

Last weekend, Columba College had amazing results at the 2022 Aerobics Otago Regionals. This event took place at Kavanagh College at which Columba had 25 competitors showcase their routines throughout the weekend. Columba gained many medals and high placings from this event.

Following the highly successful Netball Festival day for our Year 6 team last week, Columba College entered all five intermediate netball teams in the Year 7 and 8 Netball Festival run by Netball South at the Edgar Centre on Tuesday, 23rd August 2022.

We started an exciting new careers program this week with Year 10 in Constance Hall. This term we are looking at life experiences, strengths and values before we think about the future.

The results for the 2022 Otago University Junior Mathematics Competition are in and once again our students performed competitively.

Year 7 and 8 students have been doing a Religious Studies unit titled 'Why does bad stuff happen?' Through the unit, we looked at a range of responses to this question. In our final lesson, students had the opportunity to respond through a selection of activities in a 'prayer space'.

What an absolute joy it was to travel to Waihi this year to continue to interschool match up with Waihi School in our Netball exchange.
