Dear Parents and Caregivers, As we come to the close of the first term of 2018, I must apologise that this is the first newsletter of the year. We endeavour to publish two newsletters a term, however this term has been more busy than usual and I have only just come up for air!

There have been quite a few changes to the Board of Trustees this year.

8am on Tuesday 6th March saw seven Kaiapoi High School students eagerly rigging dinghies at Mount Pleasant Yacht Club.

This year, Kaiapoi High School has been represented by a small squad of five girls, who have been rowing out of the Cure Rowing Club, in Kaiapoi, for the 2017-2018 season.

The Girls' Sevens Rugby team had a great start to the season, kicking off their first tournament down in Timaru for the Sevens South Island Tournament.

2018 has brought about some exciting new changes for Mataī House and, indeed, our school as a whole.

Kauri House, the Green Team. We are Kauri House. Kauri, for those that do not know, is the best house in the school.

It has been a great start to the year for Totara! We have a great bunch of bright eyed and bubbly year nines joining our ranks and the vibe amongst our classrooms and new buildings is fantastic.

It is hard to believe that Term One is nearly finished! This term has been a whirlwind of excitement as we moved into the new buildings and established ourselves as Rimu House in Karetū.

As we approach the end of the term, our first 24 CACTUS students of the year are giving it their all.

This seating project was started by Level 2 Building students at the end of last year and has been completed by this year's course.

2018 WELCOMES International students from Japan, Hong Kong and Germany, for stays of several terms or the whole year.

Level 1 Automotive students visited the NZ Trucking Show this term.

KHS Athletics Day was held on Thursday 1st March. Well done to all the students who competed.

It was a wonderful start to the Dance Department’s year with full Year 10, Year 11 and Senior Dance classes (while managing to maintain a healthy spattering of gentlemen too!).

I have been asked a few very good questions about the difference between a cold and the flu, so here are the answers to them.
