The Middle Years - Spiritual Formation

Kids Connect Camp  by KingsWay School

The desire of our teachers is to see our young people grow and develop in their relationship with God. This is carried out through prayer, Biblical Studies, service and missions, LifeLabs and Worship and any opportunity that the Lord prompts us to respond to. We are constantly looking for moments to speak God's life, truth and love over our students throughout the school day.

Prayer is an essential part of Middle Years’ daily life and culture. Prayer in class with students is a feature in most of our lessons with a culture of prayer being a focus. Biblical Studies provides learning opportunities to help students engage with scripture in meaningful ways in a supportive environment. Teachers encourage Biblical Studies to be an opportunity for open discussion to learn about God's word and to connect it to real life issues. Year level worship is a weekly feature in our programme.

Lifelab includes a focus on discipleship, engaging with scripture, missions and life skills. All Middle Years classes have Lifelab five times a fortnight, with Middle School having additional devotional times when classes start with their homeroom teachers. Student-led devotions are also a key feature.

Students are given opportunities within the school and with local missions to impact others through service and at times, mentoring. These include various local missions in Auckland. Student leadership in this area is also key. Middle School and Junior Secondary intentionally search and enact service-based projects in the local community.
